In the big city of Berlin it is full of restaurants and I can tell you that there are many gems. There are even a lot of vegetarian and vegan cafes and restaurants in Berlin. Also, the average restaurant often has vegan options, something I didn’t expect in advance in a country full of meat lovers. Now I’m not a vegetarian, but I prefer not to eat that much meat. I can officially call food my hobby, so trying restaurants during my city trip in Berlin to get to this list was no problem!

7 top cafes and restaurants in Berlin

At Factory Girl you can get breakfast, all morning and afternoon. It just isn’t quite cheap. They serve eggs in a variety of ways including fried, boiled, scrambled, poached, or just fried egg whites. But you can also order sandwiches and salads.

The café is known for their delicious Coco Anjéla: a deliciously creamy and addictive dessert. They serve Coco Anjéla in different flavors. You have to try this dessert when you eat here.

4. Umami

In the mood for Asian food? Then visit the Vietnamese fusion restaurant Umami. Here you can eat incredibly tasty Vietnamese food with a twist. Enjoy typical Vietnamese dishes including spring rolls (fresh and fried), traditional Pho soup and a Banh Bao Burger. For a moment I felt back in Vietnam! Umami also has plenty of vegetarian options.

This place is without doubt one of my top restaurants in Berlin and I have already recommended it to several people.

The restaurant has no fewer than three branches in Berlin. I visited the restaurant in Knaackstraße. The atmosphere felt very cozy thanks to the colorful lanterns on the terrace. There is sufficient seating space both inside and outside, but booking in advance might be best. It can get quite busy here.

  • Opening hours: daily from 12:00 – 00:00

5. Cookies Cream

Cookies Cream is one of the few vegetarian restaurants in Berlin that has a Michelin star. And of course there is a price tag. For a 3-course menu you pay € 59, a 4-course menu € 69 and a 5-course menu € 79 per person. But, for a Michelin star restaurant, I think it’s quite fair!

It’s wise to book in advance, otherwise you can forget getting a table.

6. Holzmarkt

I love markets, street food and alternative tents. Holzmarkt is the brilliant combination of that and I have therefore become a big fan of it!

This outdoor spot is located right on the river and has several bars and eateries where you can get something tasty. The atmosphere is very cozy and it’s wonderful to spend an evening there. There are plenty of seating areas by the river and in the garden at picnic tables, on cushions or on waterfront decks. When the weather is nice, you can really enjoy yourself here!

7. Delabuu Ice Cream

Of course there must also be an ice cream shop on the list. You can eat one of the tastiest ice creams at Delabuu Ice Cream. They only don’t sell normal ice cream, but rolled ice, also known as stir-fried ice cream and rolled ice cream. This trend originally started in Asia, in Thailand to be precise. Lately, there are more and more stalls and shops that sell this type of ice cream.

Milk, cream, sugar and other ingredients of your choice are poured on a plate at -20 ° C. Everything is mixed with spatulas and chopped and then spread on the plate. Finally, the ice cream is rolled up with spatulas and placed in a container. And there is your delicious rolled ice cream!

At Delabuu you can choose from many different variants such as nutella oreo, matcha, fruit flavors and more than enough vegan options. You can also create your own ice cream with all the flavors you want! Recommended!
